Let’s take you briskly through the production process to generate the Grade 9 Titanium.
The extraction process is convoluted and, therefore, expensive. First, the titanium sponge is created through delicate steps of formation of titanium chloride. The titanium sponge is hydraulically compressed to produce compacts, and then, in the purest titanium, 3% aluminum and 2.5% Vanadium are added to produce Ti 3Al-2.5V.

In the US, almost all high-end bicycle and wheelchair frames are manufactured using 3Al-2.5V tubes compliant with ASTM B-338, an aerospace material-compliant standard. Therefore, they are rugged, light, and robust. Some suppliers compromise the tube’s integrity by adding surplus or scrap material. However, we provide you with all the certificates required to test the material using rigorous criteria.
DO YOU KNOW? Our Titanium is Vacuum Annealed
Our titanium is vacuum annealed before and after undergoing the Pilger mill. Due to work on the job, the tube gets hardened. It builds stresses; therefore, to relieve these stresses, we pass through an additional process of vacuum annealing to avoid brittle failure during Pilger mill or mitigate residual stresses that can become permanent. The vacuum annealing is done after milling to avoid crack/failure when bending by mitigating the residual stress buildup during milling. Thus, this process leads to a more robust product without induced stress. And that’s precisely the requirement for crafting masterpiece frames.
HOW WE MILL DIFFERENTLY
We stick to precision while doing cold Pilger. We retain the best dimensional accuracy for each milled tube; our machines are state-of-the-art in this field, reducing the optimized cross-sectional area in a single go remaining in the band to avoid over or under-reduction. The endurance fatigue limit is generally 50% of the material’s UTS (Ultimate Tensile Strength) after going CWSR. To address such challenge our product undergoes heat treatment to retain higher UTS without residual stress buildup.

Generally, Titanium alloys with a hexagonal structure lead to anisotropy, limiting the homogeneity in material properties. One of the detrimental impacts is the reduction in fatigue endurance limit. However, we enhance the endurance fatigue limit by orienting the metal crystals radially, which are conventionally tangentially oriented. Radial orientation has been backed by several studies that show better fatigue performance. Therefore, through a propriety technique of controlled butting during milling, the FD TITANIUM enhances the fatigue endurance limit. This manifests the delicacy and attention to detail in manufacturing the best titanium tubes for bicycle frames and wheelchairs.

The Charpy Impact test validates the impact strength of the Ti Grade 9 material. The tests are pretty satisfactory and higher than those of conventional Carbon Frames.
WE ADDRESS THE SPECIAL WELDING CONCERNS OF OUR BUYERS
We provide annealed and cold-worked stress-relief titanium tubes that can be welded without sophisticated requirements. The traces of oil or stains on the tubes prove detrimental to welding joints. Therefore, we provide dirt-free, oil-free seamless tubes to ensure no welding beads issues while welding. With our Ti 3Al-2.5V Tube, you do not need any post-treatments after welding, and the welded joint can retain 90% of the initial tensile strength.
OUR TI 3AL-2.5V HAS THE HIGHEST STRESS CORROSION CRACKING RESISTANCE
As we claimed to be perfectly vacuum-annealed tubes, our titanium alloy has a minor oxygen impurity inclusion. That’s why, when evaluating the Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC) resistance in hot chloride solutions, grade 9 has negligible corrosion cracking.

6Al-4V tubes are not seamless but are fabricated through a longitudinal weld joint. Although 6Al-4V has a higher tensile strength and is less pliable, welding is impossible with precision. And may cause the fracture just after the welded joint. That’s why 3Al-2.5V has been the optimal choice for having the highest strength-to-weight ratio.
